The Best Time to Visit Disneyland

Disneyland

Large groups of people usually appear at Disneyland during the summer and during specific holiday periods during the rest of the year. The busiest time of all is Christmas Day through New Year's Day. More than 70,000 people could have toured Disneyland Park in one day! While this level of attendance is not normal, the possibility of this to happen will prevent all the visitors from challenging this attraction at its busiest periods. You can go there after Thanksgiving weekend until the week before Christmas. The next slowest times are September through the weekend preceding Thanksgiving. Some families go with their children in school days by having this day off.

However, going to Disneyland in the fall or in the spring have some negatives. The parks often close very early on fall, winter, and spring days, sometimes fairly enough to eliminate other live-entertainment offerings. Furthermore, because these are slow times of the year at Disneyland, you can expect that some rides and attractions may be closed for maintenance or renovation. Finally, if the parks open late and close early, it will be tough to see everything there.

Most people who have tried Disney's theme parks at differing times during the year agree that you should experience different times of years. By the end of the day, you can have a great time at the Disneyland parks regardless of the time of year or crowd level. Of course, crowds are not the only factor when deciding what time of the year to visit Disneyland. Holidays at Disneyland are enjoyed like other places, and the decorations, there are almost worth the price of admission. Finally, the more earlier in the morning you are there, the better time you will have fun.

Affordable Disney Vacations To Save Great On Traveling

Numerous families would enjoy to travel to a realm with their kids, particularly if it is a magical one. This dream can be fulfilled by making the best of affordable Disney vacations. There are so many travel sites on the internet that provide great savings on traveling and hotels or resorts on high season. However, if a family is in a position to go on vacation on the off-peak times then can be got really inexpensive Disney World vacation deals. In and around Disneyland there are so many things to do and to see. Preparing a trip carefully can be made more at ease by taking advantage of one of the many travel packages that are available.

Disney World area includes more than one park, and there are a lot of other places of interest in the Orlando, Florida locality. Preparing for vacation there require quite some time to check out all the places of interest and finding out which ones are right to enjoy your family. Nearly all of the Disney World travel packages that are offered come with airfare, hotel transfer and admission fees to Disneyland. A couple of them may include some dishes, but only a few come with all dishes unless you take one of the all inclusive Disney vacations.

After pricing all the separate items like airfare, tickets, hotels, rental cars, meals, admission fees and some other things you may desire, it will quickly get apparent that probably the most beneficial deals can be found with one of the packages on affordable Disney vacations. Another thing you have to consider is staying within the resort makes getting to and from Disneyland more comfortable, however even the most beneficial package bargain you can get will be less affordable than remain at any accommodation outside of the main entertainment area.

Often families arrive in Orlando and may find out that making their whole holiday in one park may not be the best option for them. In that case, they can prefer to take in their hired car and visit a couple of the other places of interest near Orlando. Several travelers even would like to try out deep-sea fishing, usually extras like that is not enclosed in any of the Disney travel packages offerings. Additional things must be planned on your own.

Other families don't prefer booking Disney vacation packages, because they favor to be flexible and to do their own thing, going to Disney World for one or two days throughout their journey. If you prefer these option you can find a lot of travel agents, experienced in the spots close to the park may be capable a good deal better to help you.

In conclusion, the costs of taking one of the affordable Disney vacations is going to be less expensive than planning every things of your vacation one by one, above all when you decide the time to put it all together, the savings can be really significant.

Disneyland For Adults

Disneyland

Think Disneyland is only for kids? Think again. With high-end roller coasters, fine dining, and a chance to reconnect with your inner child, Disneyland has a lot to offer the "older children." Do you remember visiting Sleeping Beauty's castle as a child? Or playing princesses with your friends? Grab those friends-ehm fellow princesses, and head to Sleeping Beauty's castle again. Yes, you now know that Sleeping Beauty's castle is fake, and that you are not a princess. But reuniting with memories and friends can offer priceless memories.

Take Disneyland's roller coasters for a ride. Their rides are generally smoother than the more fast-paced, thrill ride parks around, so you're less likely to end up with a sore back or a twisted neck. Space Mountain and the Matterhorn are two of the beloved rollercoaster, but the some of the heavier themed rides offer thrills as well. The Indiana Jones ride puts you into an adventure, with illusions, sound effects, and Indiana Jones himself. Disney's log ride boasts one of the biggest log ride drops around, and the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad takes you through mine shafts, caves, and waterfalls.

After you've decided what roller coaster thrills you're going to seek, be goofy. Ride It's a Small World and sing along. Wear adult Disney costumes! Really, why not? You'll have fun walking around as children, who confuse your adult Disney costume for the real thing, come up and ask you for an autograph. The pictures from a to the park dressed up in costumes are priceless. Grab a funnel cake and wear Mickey Mouse ears. Your trip is all about having fun, so don't hold back from letting your inner child run loose.

If you don't want to reconnect with your younger days, there's plenty for the mature crowd as well. Check out the shops along the Main St., go for a boat ride, and check out the shows. Throughout the day there will be a variety of shows going on, and you should get the schedule with your park map. There's also rides that take you through views of the park, which allows you to sit back and relax. There are also a few attractions that are more of shows than ride, like Honey I Shrunk the Audience, which offers a fun 4-D experience, or Star Wars. These rides stimulate you visually while adding enough other effects to make it feel like you've gone on a real adventure. Make sure document your day with video footage of the outdoor shows, pictures, and memoirs.

Don't forget to eat! If you don't have little ones coming along, take advantage of some of the nicer restaurants Disneyland has to offer. The Blue Bayou is one such restaurant. It offers all-day moon-lit fine dining, located in an "outside" venue beside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. You may want to make reservations, since seating is limited. The water, stars, and great food make the Blue Bayou a more romantic and magical place to eat. Other great adult restaurants are the Café Orleans, the Plaza Inn, and the Carnation café.

So leave the kids at home and grab your adult Disney costumes and your fellow princes and princesses, and go back to Disneyland. For adults and children alike, it truly is a magical place!

Disney Jobs - Don't Overlook Summer Internships With Disney

Walt Disneyland

Disney offers a paid internship program for college students at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and Walt Disney Resort in the Orlando, Florida, area. Candidates interested in applying for the Disney College Program can apply online. The program is open to both U.S. residents and applicants from outside the United States.

This program operates during the school year; the Disney College Program is not available during summer months only. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have an unrestricted work authorization.

The Disney College Program is open to students studying any major. If a person accepted into the College Program is receiving financial aid, they will need to consult with advisors at their school to find out what effect the paid internship will have on the level of assistance they can receive.

Disney staff conducts presentations at schools in California and Florida each spring and fall. Prospective interns have the opportunity to view a presentation designed to provide more detailed information about the program. Interviews can be conducted immediately or a short time after the presentation, either by phone or in person.

In addition to working at a Disney resort, College Program interns also have the opportunity to take courses for both personal and professional development. Interns are hired to work in food service, guest accommodations, stores, attractions, and other employment roles.

A person accepted into the College Program can customize their experience working at Disney to reflect their learning goals and interests. Disney consults with the intern's school to try to determine how the intern can get college credit for participating in the Program.

Senior Disney employees share their work experience to help the intern gain an appreciation for career paths available at the company. Computers, books, and videos are also made available to the student as part of the learning process.

Professional internships are offered to recent college graduates as well. Being accepted to this program offers some definite perks, including discounts on food and beverages, free admission to Disney theme parks, and invitations to staff social events. People who are interested in being considered for one of these opportunities can apply online through the Walt Disney website.

An example of one of the professional internships offered by Disney is the Operations Management Training Program. This is a full time, paid internship that includes training in leadership skills, project management, and business operations. The intern will have on the job training as well as classroom instruction.

The Program starts in January each year; applications are accepted in September for the following January. To be eligible, applicants must have completed a four-year program offered by a college or university within the previous 10 months. A person who has accepted a job with Disney is not eligible to participate in the Professional Intern Program.

Due to the nature of Disney resort's business, preference is given to applicants who have successfully completed programs in Travel and Tourism, Leisure Studies, Communications, Hotel/Restaurant Management, or Retail/Merchandise Management.

A Professional Intern will be working in the program for a period of between five and seven months. They will need to find their own accommodation while participating in the program, and must have a reliable vehicle to drive to and from work.

If working in the hospitality industry is of interest to you, you may want to consider applying for a paid internship position at Disney. It's a great way to get some practical experience in your area of study, and you will have the opportunity to show the management at the company that you are an excellent candidate for a full-time Disney job.

Disney World in the Rain - What to do When it is Raining on Your Parade

Yes, unfortunately the Disney magic does not work on the elements and it can be rainy at Disney World. In particular the summer months can experience quite a lot of rainfall. So what are you to do if this happens to you?

Firstly you can see it as a good thing. Rain means that other people leave the parks. The advantage of this of course is that the lines get less and less as people give up and go home. So long as you are prepared then you can be one of the ones that stays and enjoys the shorter lines. To stay dry your best bet is to buy a Disney rain poncho. These enormous plastic coverall ponchos are not the most attractive thing you have ever seen - but they will keep you dry. They are not always displayed in the stores, and you have to ask for them. Perhaps no one wants to admit that it rains in The Happiest Place on Earth. The are pretty though and long lasting, although you probably won't ever use them if you are not in a theme park. I don't think anyone really wants to be seen in a giant plastic rain poncho with Mickey Mouse on the back unless they are in the understanding environment of a theme park! Everyone looks the same in a Disney poncho (unless like me you have had yours for years and are still in last season's color). If you want to be able to recognize your family when they are dressed for the rain, then you may want to buy a poncho from another store!

If you have a stroller with you then always put the poncho over it when you park the stroller outside the ride. That way you won't have to explain to your child, who is screaming in protest, that it really is fine to sit on a wet seat for the next couple of hours. Another idea if you have young children in a stroller is to pack a small towel into the stroller basket - it could be very useful.

Go inside. This might seem a bit obvious but there are plenty of things to do at Disney which are undercover. Showers tend not to last for that long, so if you can sit it out in one of the shows or attractions for a while, then you might emerge into the bright sunlight again.

Take a look at the map. Even dressed in your Mickey poncho don't plan to walk half way across the park in the middle of a downpour.

You could take the chance to exit the park for a while (do not forget your hand stamp). Exploring one of the Disney resort hotels is a great way to spend some time. If you are in Magic Kingdom you can easily get to The Floridian, The Contemporary, and The Polynesian on the monorail or the boat.

So see the rain as an opportunity and turn it to your advantage.

Family Reunion Destinations

As time passes, family members inevitably find it harder to keep in touch. Getting the family together again is always a great idea and there are locations that are perfect for doing so.

Family Reunion Destinations

Some of the best memories a family can make is when an entire extended group of relatives gathers together for a trip. Family reunions can bring together entire generations, and both young and old can enjoy their time together. Choosing where to have your reunion, however, can be a bit tricky. Families need to find a place that will be friendly to both the youngest and the oldest in their group. Here are some destinations that will fit the bill no matter what ages you are working with.

One of the friendliest spots is also "The Happiest Place on Earth". The Disney Parks (Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida and Disneyland in Anaheim, California) offer packages that are perfect for getting a large group of people together. Disney's "Magical Gatherings" make it possible for multi-family and extended family trips to be planned and executed without many of the hassles that are inherent in other resort areas. If there are a lot of small kids in the extended family, the parks will keep them busy while the rest of the family chats.

Another great spot is the Rocking Horse Ranch, located in upstate New York. Just 90 minutes from New York City, this ranch offers breathtaking views of the Shawangunk Mountains, as well as the ability to host year round family reunions. There are many different outdoor activities put on by the ranch each season including winter activities like skiing to summer activities like horseback riding. The Rocking Horse Ranch claims that a trip here will be "the most fun your family's ever had", and with a claim like that your reunion is sure to be a hit.

Finally, one of the other great family reunion destinations is also located in the Northeast. Smuggler's Notch, located in picturesque Vermont, is open in summer, fall and winter for your family reunion needs. Located near Burlington, Vermont, Smuggler's Notch offers activities for smaller children as well as teens, and adults will find plenty to do as well. The condo-style accommodations means that even larger family units will be sure to have enough space here.

Planning a family reunion can be a tough job. One way to get people excited and involved is to pick a destination that caters to everyone regardless of age and interests.

Enjoying A Disneyland Adventure

Disneyland

No Family Friendly California trip would be complete without a visit to the Disneyland resort! Depending upon the amount of time you have available for your trip, tickets are available for one park or both parks (called the Park Hopper) and for a variety of durations.

Want to make the most of your trip to Disneyland?

USE THE FASTPASS! The biggest drawback to either park is the length of the lines. Leave it to Disneyland to come up with a solution to that problem, and that solution is called FastPass! The FastPass essentially holds your place in line so you can see other areas of the park instead of standing in line. This is available on select rides in Disneyland and California Adventures. FastPass is not available at all times; it is based upon how busy the ride is.

To use FastPass insert each person's ticket into the FastPass machine. A FastPass ticket will be dispensed and will show what window of time the rider should return to the ride (usually it is about a one hour window). Since there is a limit to how often you can get a FastPass, the ticket dispensed will also show what time you may acquire another pass at that ride or another in the park. Now you can go to another ride, show or do some shopping. Return between the times shown on your FastPass and go to the designated FastPass entrance. Be prepared to show your FastPass ticket. You will then be able to bypass a large portion of the line.

VISIT DURING NON-PEAK TIMES. Try to plan your visit mid-week. People who take a long weekend to visit Disneyland will still be there on Mondays and Fridays. Saturdays are traditionally a very busy amusement park day, regardless of location, so avoid Saturday if possible.

PLAN YOUR VISIT USING ONLINE RESOURCES. To optimize your visit, look at the Disneyland website and plan your day. Before leaving we decided what areas we would like to spend the most time in and how to take advantage of the FastPass to make the most of our time. There are some rides (that do not offer FastPass) which you might want to put at the top of your list. Both the Matterhorn and Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage were almost always busy; try to get to those early in the day to avoid the longest lines.

DON'T FORGET THE SHOWS. Don't forget take a break and enjoy some of the shows! We especially enjoyed the "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" show. This is an interactive movie adventure, so it is almost like a ride and show in one. One of our favorites was The Robot Show in the Innovations Building. In fact, my children seemed to talk more about The Robot Show than anything else; even days later! Remember the parade goes through Disneyland twice a day. If you do not plan to watch the parade, be sure to be on the side of the park you want to be on. We found we could not get from one side to the other during the parade because they rope off the Main Street.

VARIETY OF PARKING OPTIONS. Parking is available at a variety of lots for differing amounts. Our favorite lot is the Mickey and Friends lot which is $11. A tram takes you from that parking structure to Disneyland / California Adventures (the kids loved the tram ride!).

EATING AT DISNEYLAND. Food can be one of the most expensive parts of your Disney experience. There is a great variety but the prices might scare you. There is a picnic area outside the park so you can pack a cooler in the car and eat on a budget. This does take quite a bit of time out of your day (especially if you have to go back to the car for your picnic).

If you decide to eat in the park, check around at the different restaurants to find what is right for you. The type of food served and the pricing does vary from restaurant to restaurant. If you are a AAA member, use your card for a 10% discount at the Plaza Inn Restaurant.

Overall, Disneyland offers fun for the whole family, and though expensive is well worth the price for the memories created.

The Magic Of Disneyland Vacations

Disneyland

Disneyland first opened in July 1955 and has since brought magic into the lives of every visitor who has passed through their gates. Since it opened over 50 years ago, Disneyland has seen over 515 million guests enjoy the atmosphere that so many of us love and visit so often. After a visit to the magical kingdom, you will counting the days until you and your family can return and experience it again.

The Disneyland Resort is located in Anaheim, California, with easy access from Interstate 5. The Disneyland Resort is home to two theme parks, three 5-star hotels, and Downtown Disney. Each theme park features rides, themed areas and attractions that provide a magical experience for your entire family.

Disneyland, the original park consists of six different areas, or lands as they are called. Upon entering Disneyland you will find yourself on Main Street, U.S.A. Immediately, you will be emerged in 20th century America. You will see double deck buses driving around the area, arcades, and the building even look old school. It is definitely a site to see.

Immediately following Main Street, if you take a left, you will find yourself in Adventureland. This is an area which is all about the tropical theme. In this land you will find the Tiki Room, Indiana Jones Adventure, Tarzan Tree House, and the Jungle Cruise. You will literally be taken from real life and feel as though you are in a jungle.

If you happen to take a right off main street, you will find yourself stepping away from today and entering the future in Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is home to one of the most loves rides, Space Mountain. You will also find Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters to be very fun and entertaining for the whole family.

Frontierland is one of my favorite since it is home to the Thunder Mountain Railroad. This ride is definitely one that shouldn't be missed by anyone. The whole land feels as though you just left the present and enter the Wild, Wild, West. Filled with saloons and places to practice your target shooting, you will feel as though you should be in tight pants, a flannel shirt, and chaps.

Fantasyland is one that will be loved by most little children. Fantasyland's main entrance is through Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Immediately you are taken away from real life and into a fantasy. You will find all of the little rides for the children like Peter Pan's Flight, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. It is also home to the Matterhorn Bobsleds and the brand new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

The last major area of Disneyland is ToonTown. If your children love Mickey Mouse and his gang, they will love to see where they live. ToonTown is a bust for adults, but nothing brings me more happiness than to see little children jump for joy and excitement when they get all the way through Mickey's house and see him and the end.

Disneyland is truly a magical place and one that can be enjoyed by all. I try to visit the resort with my family once a year. You should really consider it for your next vacation. Your family will thank you forever!

Planning the Best Disney Holiday

Walt Disneyland

Every kid's dream is a vacation to Walt Disney world. However, parents may find it costly. Planning ahead on Disney vacations will allow you to make the most of your vacation in a cost-effective way.

Step 1:
Book your trip well ahead of time. When you book your date well in advance, you can get the rooms and the Disney vacation that you are looking for. There should be a two or three month timeline from when you book your travel arrangements to your dates of departure. Disney packages are different than others in that they will cost more as your departure date nears. Confirm your travel plans early for the best chance of saving big.

Step 2:
Choose the right time to travel. With any luck your Disney plans are fairly flexible. If possible you should try avoiding a Disney resort over major holidays (Christmas, New Years, July 4th, and Thanksgiving). The park is sure to be filled during that time, thus you'll be charged extra for that period. If you can be easygoing with your travel dates, you could take advantage of Disney value rates. These are more affordable, providing travelers with motivation to take their trips in less busy periods. Try travelling during the off season and work your Disney vacations into your budget.

Step 3:
Make reservations at a Disney resort. Disney resorts are pretty cheap to stay at. It is all the additional extras that tax your wallet. Booking your hotel at a Disney resort can offer you many cost-effective benefits. If you stay in a hotel within the Disney park, you will make more efficient use of your travel time. Transportation is provided free from Disney hotels. Another advantage to booking your rooms at an actual Disney hotel is having a wider time range of access to the park. You can get on the shuttle earlier and beat the crowds in the morning traffic. If you are a Disney resort guest, you will have more time to enjoy the theme park.

Step 4:
Think about getting a meal plan. Food can be very expensive on a Disney vacation, so plan carefully. How about purchasing a meal plan at the Disney resort for the whole family - it's better than starving just so you can make budget. You can try all the different eateries, including buffets and not worry about the bill later. Choose dining times wisely if you don't want an inclusive meal. Getting lunch at a Disney park is cheaper than the dinners. If you want lunch in the park, do so but try to avoid dinner in the park. Items that don't have the Disney logo on them will be cheaper.

Step 5:
Be clear about where you are going. It is obvious that Disney parks are enormous. There are too many things to see in only one day. Plan for this. Study the maps and break things down into manageable chunks. You can avoid the rush from one park to another when you split your park visit into a few days. The amount of stress that can be experienced on a hectic Disney vacation can be minimized by allowing plenty of time at the park.

The Disneyland Daddy - A Case Study

Disneyland

Vicki is the single mother of Alex (12), Ryan (8) and Jessica (6). To make ends meet, she works two jobs-as a receptionist during the week and part-time catering on weekends. She has been divorced from Mike, a supervisor for a building contractor, for two years. Her relationship with Mike is strained at best, hostile at worst.

Mike gets the kids every other weekend and every Wednesday. The kids love going to Dad's because there are "no rules." They get to do pretty much whatever they want. Weekends are filled with video games, trips to the mall, pizza and movie outings. And candy. Lots and lots of candy. Wednesday nights are TV nights. The kids never do their homework on Wednesday nights because, after a long day, Mike wants to kick back. He doesn't want to have to deal with questions about homework. Vicki resents Mike's free-for-all parenting and calls him "The Disneyland Daddy."

When Mike drops off the kids at Vicki's apartment on Sunday night, they are wound up, bubbling about all the things they did with Dad over the weekend and not wanting the fun to end. Within minutes, excitement turns to disrespect, when Vicki asks them to help with chores and get to their homework. They talk back, act out and tune their mother out. Sunday nights with mom turn into screaming matches and tears. The anxiety always spills over into Monday morning, when she has to get the kids out of bed and get to work on time.

In her own words, Vicki's life is "a wreck." Her priority is to get the bills paid and provide for her kids. In doing so, she feels she is losing control of them at light speed. How can Vicki get back in control, when her parenting efforts are undone weekly by Mike?

Mike doesn't have effective parenting skills and tries to make up for it with deep pockets. He's also perfectly happy that the kids go back to their mother's and act out because it's gratifying for him. It's a way to act out his bad feelings toward his ex-wife. Vicki feels cheated, betrayed and resentful about her income disparity with Mike and for having to carry the whole workload of raising the children.

What they both need to understand is that in divorce situations, kids develop a sort of "extra sensory perception" about statements that reflect resentment, anxiety or jealousy. They already feel caught in the middle between their parents, and this heightened sensitivity to their parents' words makes it even more so.

Can Vicki stop the disrespect and chaos in her home and can Mike learn to be a responsible, effective parent? Yes. But here's what has to happen.

The simple fact is this: When the kids come back from Dad's, they need a structure to come home to, not a "mommy" to come home to.

1.) The hard pill for parents, especially mothers, to swallow, is that they have to manage their feelings of resentment and anxiety. Kids do sense when daddy returns them that mom is resentful. This raises their anxiety and contributes to the acting out. One way to manage the resentment is talking about it straightforwardly. I recommend that mom sit down and talk with the kids when things are going well. She can acknowledge to them that sometimes she has a hard time when they return because daddy's able to give them things that she's not. So when they return home, there should be a half hour transition time, where they just go to their rooms and unwind and unpack and have a snack. They don't talk about the visit with daddy. They don't talk about the chores. They don't do anything. They just unwind. After that half hour of transition time, that's when she meets with the kids and sets up the structure for the night (homework, chores and TV time before bed) and the week (getting up, getting to school on time).

2.) Mom needs to have a structure in the home with rules and very clear expectations. She needs to establish a culture in the home that says, "You're accountable to me." What happens at Dad's house is irrelevant. Mom needs to say this: "You're not at your father's anymore. The rules here are these." Then turn around and walk away. Mom can establish a structure by saying, "It's eight o'clock. You need to start getting ready for bed. If not, there'll be no TV tomorrow night." Or "If not, I'm taking your cell phone." The clearer that structure is and the more it's backed up by expectations, responsibilities and accountability, the better the chances the kids will respond to it. The simple fact is this: When the kids come back from Dad's, they need a structure to come home to, not a "mommy" to come back to.

3.) At the same time, mom can set up a reward structure. The kids who do their homework on Wednesday nights when they're at Dad's get something extra. It doesn't have to be something that costs a lot of money. It can be extra computer time, extra phone time or staying up half an hour later the night they get back. There's also a much easier way to get the kids to do their chores. Give them a certain amount of time to complete a task. If they get it done, they get a reward. For example, if Ryan does the dishes within 15 minutes after supper, he gets an extra half hour on the computer that evening. Vicki should set the limits and make it the kids' responsibility to meet them. Why? Because they can do it. Kids show us this every day. Why do you think they go home and act out, then go to school the next day and behave themselves? It's because they can manage different environments effectively.

4.) I think the "Disneyland Daddy" in this case needs to be challenged to take responsibility. If these parents are involved in family therapy or counseling, accelerating Mike's responsibility needs to be part of the structure. I've known families who have worked out an arrangement in therapy that if the child is acting out, the father has to come over and help restrain him. It puts some responsibility back on the father and discourages him from creating the problem. I've seen divorced parents make agreements that if the child comes home and is acting out, he goes back to the father's and stay an extra night. This can only happen if mothers are empowered through the divorce decree and custody arrangement or through regular or court-ordered family therapy. But it's important for mothers in these situations to have that empowerment, so that the family has a structure for the co-parenting task.

Feed Your Disney Collectible Addiction

Walt Disneyland

Who has never been inspired by the magical world of Disney and the lovable characters that have stayed with us all these years through their shows, theme parks scattered around the globe, and their interactive games. It has become Disney thrust to make children of all sizes and ages bring the magic into their homes by creating other consumer products such as wearables, toys, and books. Today, these products have a worldwide fan base.

In response to Disney fans who wrote letters wanting to see their favorite Disney characters, Walt Disney conceptualized what we know now as Disneyland later they created Disney collectible items. This is good news to those who want to experience the magic of Disney without traveling to theme parks. The top five collectible Christmas ornaments are of the following characters, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh, and Cinderella. These collectibles can be hanged wherever you please in the house - on Christmas trees or above the door as a mistletoe replacement. You can also gift someone you know who is a collector of Disney stuff and see their faces light up with joy.

Other available Disney collectibles are Christmas pins, which are small collectible pins that have one or more Disney cartoon characters. These things can be collected and/or traded at their pin trading website. There are two ways to acquire Disney pins by yourself to expand your Disney collections. Pin trading is a good option as this expands the collector's items by trading pins to acquire rare pins. Other collectibles are table topper figurines depicting Christmas scenes, tumblers and mugs, clothing, personal care items, bags etc that show why the magic has never faded.

To ensure that your collectibles stay beautiful for years and years, wrap them in layers of tissue paper and a layer of bubble wrap. Then put them in a box lined with tissue paper and some more bubble wrap then store in a cool, dry, and safe place. If the Disney Christmas ornaments come with the original box or a letter of authenticity keep them for its collectible value.

Disney collectibles are a timeless treasure. An avid collector can make money by auctioning vintage, limited editions, and rare collector's items at auction shops both online and the real world. To be successful in trading or auctioning the collectibles, the items should be in excellent or mind condition, after all who would buy dilapidated items?

What to Wear to Disneyland in Inclement Weather

Disneyland

You've purchased your Disneyland tickets already, only to find out it's raining. Or windy. Or 110 degrees of miserable So Cal heat. Think again before you bail out on your Disneyland plans. Not only will the park be less crowded with weather like this, but also it may be fun to visit the park, dressed appropriately, during unfamiliar conditions. Most rides will keep you out of the sun, rain, or wind, and the added elements can put a little adventure in your day. Read more on how to dress for a day at Disneyland in less than perfect weather.

On the rare occasion, southern California enjoys a good rain shower. To those from, say Washington, a little rain never hurt everything. Here's how to dress like a Washington native to enjoy a raining day.

First, you need you base layers. Since California isn't known for being cold, this should be a thin long-sleeved shirt, preferably one of a material other than cotton. If your child cannot be separated from her princess Disney costume, or a day at Disneyland isn't complete without a Cinderella princess or Snow White princess dress, just slip this on top of the base layer. If it's colder or you're prone to being cold, grab a mid-layer, like a light sweater, to wear on top of the base layer.

For pants, you do NOT want to wear jeans, and preferably not anything cotton. Rain pants or track pants are ideal. If these aren't available, go for some polyester pants or fleece pants. Cotton sweats will absorb moisture, and unlike other fabrics, cotton does not insulate when wet, which would leave you cold and wet all day long.

A rain jacket is a must for stormy weather. Rain jackets with a hood are the best choice, as they will keep water from catching and pooling around the head. Typically rain jackets are loose enough that they can be worn over a princess Disney costume, and hopefully protect your little Cinderella princess and Snow White princess during their day at the park.

Slide into those galoshes and grab an umbrella for each person at the park. Don't have galoshes? Wear normal shoes, or boots, paired with wool socks. Wool insulates so well when wet you probably won't notice if moisture seeps into those shoes. Now you're ready for the rain.

It's not uncommon to have a windy day in Southern California. Fortunately, wind takes a lot less to combat than the rain! For the ladies, be sure to secure your hair back for the day, so that you don't spend the day pulling it out of your face and trying to detangle it. Wind will make hair that's left down goes crazy.

The most important article of clothing for dealing with wind is a wind-proof jacket. Most rain jackets are wind-proof, and track jackets are typically wind-resistant. Any polyester blend coat will at least help with the wind. Blocking the wind will help you stay warm again a chilly breeze. Thick jeans are a great choice if rain isn't an issue, and make sure to grab some warm socks too.

Extreme heat is probably the most common weather issue at Disneyland. Those not native to Southern California's heat may find it difficult to bear. The goal in the heat is to promote as much air circulation as possible.

For ladies, skirts are a great option, as they keep you cooler than shorts. Princess Disney costumes are great to wear alone. Don't let your little girl wear anything under her Cinderella princess dress. A Snow White princess dress may not be as good of a choice, since it has both darker colors and a full skirt.

Tank tops or cap sleeves promote air around the armpits, loose shorts allow more airflow as well. Whatever style of clothing you choose, be sure to pair it with light colors and a hat or sunglasses. Don't forget the sunscreen!

Disneyland Vacation Tips - Beat the Crowds

Disneyland

One of the best Disneyland vacation tips we can give is how to beat the crowds at Disneyland. But first, let's answer the question "Where is Disneyland located?"

Disneyland is located at 1313 Harbor Boulevard in Anaheim, California. Now one of two theme parks at the Disneyland Resort, Disneyland brings in visitors year-round.

So when is the best time to visit Disneyland?

There are several times of year to choose from. Ideally, visitors want nice weather and the smallest crowd possible. One of the best times of year to meet these standards is in the fall, after children have gone back to school, in between Labor Day and Columbus Day. In California, most kids are back in school by late September and the holiday crowds don't start coming until Halloween gets closer. Other times to visit would be mid-January to mid-February, and after Easter/Spring Break to the end of May.

Keep in mind that weekends will always be busier than a weekday. If you're planning an extended visit to the Disneyland Resort, visit the parks during the week and visit other venues on the weekend.

You can expect the weather at Disneyland to be pleasant most of the year. Rainfall is heavier during the months of January, February, and March. July through early September, Disneyland weather is going to be hot and the theme parks will be packed with people; if you'll be visiting the parks during the summer, dress cool, make use of the water rides, and make a point of staying after dark for the nighttime shows.

No matter what, have fun on your Disneyland vacation! Tips are great, but nothing beats first-hand experience. Imagine, explore, and enjoy the magic.

Disneyland Summer Vacation - Ten Tips to Making it All Worthwhile

Disneyland

I'm no expert but I've been to Disneyland a gazillion times and Disney World twice so I have picked up a few tips and tricks along the way! And seeing as this may be the year for traveling to Disneyland, with all of their great deals, I decided to share what I've learned to help those of you planning on hitting Disney this summer, have a fun, magical and less overwhelming vacation. Here's wishing your next trip to visit the big Mouse is not too hot, not too expensive, and not too crowded, but just right.

The best thing you can do when traveling to Disneyland or Disney World is to get prepared! I don't have kids but it takes a lot to plan for just the two of us so I can imagine how important it is to get in gear for families. This means:

1.Pack comfy shoes!!! I really can't say that enough. The husband and I actually tried to track our steps this time and found out that we walked approximately 7,500 steps in under 2 hours and we were at the park for 12! Thanks goodness I wore my most reliable walking shoes and not a new one that still needed breaking in.

2.Do your research. I get motion sickness on certain rides. Specifically, the ones that involve simulated movement so I always do a quick check on Disney's website and this time I borrowed The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland from the library which has a good section on each of the rides and how suitable it is for different age groups. I reread the guide after and felt that the ride descriptions were true to form.

3.Get snack packin'! Either get them in advance or head over to Target before you hit the park. Fill your bags up with bottled water (it's better if you can bring your own water filter and water bottle to save on waste and $), energy bars, fruits and anything else you might need to keep hydrated and fueled up. Otherwise, you and your hungry kids will go bonkers when you hit every snack stand in Disney tempting even the most healthiest fiends with things like Mickey Mouse cookies and cream ice cream sandwiches, churros, popcorn, turkey leg and corn dogs! While it's nice to have a treat, I'm sure you won't want to end up with a stomach ache from OD'ing on junks.

4.Wear layers and sunscreen. It's always freezing cold in the morning and then super hot in the afternoon when I go. So I've learned to wear a tank top or T-shirt and then bring a light jacket or sweater which I can tie around my waist or store in my backpack later. Speaking of which...

5.Bring a good backpack. I have an Eddie Bauer's kid's backpack that I got from Target like 3 years ago and I love it! It has two places for bottles and stores a lot of stuff but comes in a small package. It's great for holding your water, snacks, camera and extra clothes (you might need that if you go on the Grizzly River Run) without breaking your back.

6.Take a break from park restaurants. This time we ate at the Grand Californian hotel and were amazed! The quality of the food was really good-good enough so we said we'd even eat here if it wasn't at Disney and wondered why we never did it before. Plus the Storyteller's Cafe where we ate at, is great for kids since characters come around while you're eating to say hello! Even we had fun with them. And the best part? Though it was still about $9-17 for lunch it was still about the same price we paid at the park for dinner and SO much better!

7.Take a hotel break in the afternoon. I thought that this would be something everyone did. But it seemed like most families came in the afternoon and stayed throughout the day. The good thing about waking up early is that the park is less crowded. Then you can relax back at your hotel before you hit the parks up again, refreshed and ready to go!

8.Have fun without riding. Although I do try to ride as much as I can, as I said earlier, I do get sick on some rides. But I also hate missing out on anything. So I figured out a way around that. When there's a ride I want to see but not necessarily get on (like the Tower of Terror for example), I'll get in line with my husband all the way until the last minute and then let someone there know that I don't want to get on the ride. While I admit, I do feel like a wuss, it's worth it because I get to appreciate all of the Disney magic without the result of getting sick in the end.

9.Plan with room for flexibility. It's good to plan out which rides are everyone's priority. I usually bring a small notebook with a list of my top ten favorites. But I also think that the things we didn't plan for were probably the most magical parts of the trip. For example, the Indiana Jones ride got shut down mid-way and while we were a little bummed, we did get a "go to the ahead of the line" for any ride pass that more than made up for it. It's how we got to ride the Finding Nemo submarine ride which is notoriously slow with an hour or more wait, without any wait.

10.Enjoy it! Try to really enjoy being there and if that means you don't ride all of the rides you wanted to go on, so be it. I saw a lot of kids screaming and crying because Disney while magical, is exhausting and they were still out with us at midnight! I'd say it's much better to really enjoy it while you're there than to try to do everything.

What Should You Do If it Rains on Your Disney World Vacation?

Walt Disneyland

Planning is key if you are heading out to Disney World on vacation, but unfortunately there is one thing that you can't control; the weather. What do you do if it rains during your Disney World vacation? Simple; go and have fun anyway.

1. Head over to Disney Quest

Disney Quest is pretty much an indoor theme park. Located at the West Side at Downtown Disney this giant playground is the perfect place to while away the rainy hours of the day.

You can challenge with Buzz Lightyear and his Astroblasters or battle for buccaneer gold with the Pirates of the Caribbean. Your kids will enjoy designing and then riding their own coaster, and musical types will have fun recording their own music video.

Disney Quest is open seven days a week from 11.30am until late, and if all the fun makes you hungry you can take a break in the food court.

2. Tour the Resort hotels

If you don't want to waste your park passes on a wet day then why not go on a tour of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels?

The Disney Imagineers didn't stop at the theme parks, they put just as much creative effort into their hotels too. You might like to spend some time watching the animals roam the savanna over at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge or just chilling out by the fire in the lobby of Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

For the ultimate in luxury take the monorail over to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. You'll be whisked back in time to Victorian Florida when you step inside the flagship resort. During the holiday season master bakers work through the night to create a majestic looking Gingerbread House which is well worth a visit.

3. Break out the ponchos and have fun in the parks

If you're happy to just be a kid again and hang out in the rain then wet days are some of the best times to be in the parks, because most people are driven away by the rain! All you need to do is grab a poncho and some suitable footwear and go and have fun, you'll enjoy yourself almost as much as if the sun were out. Bear in mind that some attractions, like Test Track, can't run while it's raining, but to be honest the rain doesn't usually last all that long anyway.

Wedding Tips - Why Not Have a Disneyland Wedding

Disneyland

It is often said that the happiest day of your life is your wedding day. That being the case, why not get married in what is considered the happiest place on earth, the Magic Kingdom. With a Disneyland Wedding, this dream can become a reality.

From childhood, women dream of having the perfect wedding ceremony. At Disneyland, you can have a unique, romantic, fairy tale wedding and live happily ever after. Disneyland weddings feature a magical ceremony and a unique reception that are second to none.

Furthermore, it is easy to plan a Disney wedding as well. No need to worry or stress over the wedding plans as Disneyland will provide you with your own Fairy God Planner to handle all the details for your special day.

If you choose to tie the knot in the Magic Kingdom, pre-planning is key. Disneyland wedding planning begins one year before the wedding date. At your first meeting with your Fairy God Planner you will take a site tour and view possible locations for your ceremony. The next step is agreeing to and signing the wedding service contract and placing a deposit for the ceremony fees. This process is usually done well in advance, usually 11 months before the wedding date. Guests will receive your wedding announcements approximately 10 months before the big day.

Final planning sessions for your wedding are done by phone or in person 8 months before the ceremony date. At this time the ceremony and reception event orders are prepared and finalized. During this process, every aspect of your wedding is handled by your Fairy God Planner, removing all the stress of wedding planning. Disney weddings include the catering, flowers and invitations.

On your wedding day, you will experience a ceremony that you will remember forever and a reception unlike no other. With a white gloved staff, your reception will be complete with elegant resort table settings, a head table, exquisite linens and beautiful place cards. Disneyland Paris Tickets - Is it Possible to Get Free Entry?

Walt Disneyland

With Disneyland Paris being the top European tourist destination it is hardly surprising that it is sometimes difficult to find discount entry tickets. With a little research however and some perseverance you can often find great discounts and even free entry passes. This is my method for getting those discount or free passes;

First of all plan your trip before booking anything i.e

How will you be getting there car, train, Eurostar, plane
Decide on the length of your stay. - Sometimes you can get free additional days i.e 4 for the price of 3
How regular will your visits be - If you are visiting more than once a year consider the option of an annual pass as this will give you lots of other discounts
Dates when you can visit. If you visit off peak you can often get better deals than during peak times.
How many in your group. If you are a large party visiting you can often get group discounts or even a free pass.

Now you have all the information in place do your research. Check with the transport providers first. For example Eurostar were offering a free Disneyland Paris Hopper Pass ticket with a Channel crossing with additional tickets available with a 15% discount. P&O also promoted a similar offer.

Some coach companies offer both discounted travel and highly discounted tickets i.e Ledger offered tickets at £17.00 each approx 60% saving!

Check out other websites as many info sites will give up to date information on the best deals available for Eurodisney you may even find that by booking direct there are some good last minute offers.

So to sum up Disneyland Paris is a great place to visit and whilst entry on the day is quite expensive by planning ahead it is possible to get greatly discounted tickets and this year it was even possible to get a free day hopper pass by booking an essential train journey! So beat the credit crunch and have a great time at this fantastic theme park.

Analysis of the Walt Disney Company Theme Park Division

Walt Disneyland

The Disney theme parks and resorts compete with other forms of entertainment, lodging, tourism and recreational activities. Universal's Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios are Disney's direct competition within the Theme Parks business.

Studio Entertainment division

Disney's Studio Entertainment business competes with all forms of entertainment. A significant number of companies produce and/or distribute theatrical and television films, exploit products in the home entertainment market, provide pay television programming services and sponsor live theater. They also compete to obtain creative and performing talents, story properties, advertiser support and broadcast rights that are essential to the success of their Studio Entertainment businesses.

Consumer Products division

Disney's Consumer Products business competes in its merchandise licensing, publishing, video game and retail activities with other licensors, publishers and retailers of character, brand and celebrity names. Based on independent surveys, Disney believes they are the largest worldwide licensor of character-based merchandise based on retail sales.

Analysis of potential new entrants

Walt Disney Company has been able to grow over a long period of time, and has developed from within the departments of Research and Development, Marketing, and Finance. By relying on past experience, company officials know to a large extent what the target customer wants. As Disney pretty much dominates the family entertainment market, it will be very difficult for new organizations to develop brand recognition/identification, and product differentiation. Disney has focused on market diversification for years and the company covers a wide array of products and services.
Analysis of substitute products

The threat of substitute products or services is moderate to low. Obviously, other cartoon figures, theme parks, and movies can penetrate the market in which Disney is operating in, but I do not believe that this is representing a significant threat. The Disney Company has already placed price ceilings on many of its product lines, and should be able to compete with new competitors.
Analysis of suppliers

The bargaining power of suppliers is moderate. As the Disney Company is operating in a highly differentiated and unique industry with high switching costs associated with operations the suppliers are dominated by a few companies and is most probably very concentrated. However, Disney is a unique and important customer of many of the suppliers. Furthermore, the size of the company may certainly be a great advantage. By being able to order large volumes of unique products from unique suppliers, will create a dependency relationship in the industry.
Analysis of buyers

The bargaining power of customers is high in the service and in the entertainment industry. Since a large number of customers are needed to make Disney's operations run smoothly, the customers have certain powers. For instance, if the price on a particular home video is too high, customers may be reluctant to spending the money needed to purchase the product. Another example is the entrance fee charged at Disney's theme parks. Furthermore, the entertainment industry does not save the buyer money. Instead it is designed in a way that it will make the buyer spend more. A majority of Disney's product mix focuses on intangible returns on the buyer's money. The case that some customers may not realize that they are getting such a return may increase the bargaining power of the customers.

Disneyland Packages - Beware of Fraud Artists!

Disneyland

Visiting Disney can be a graceful and magical experience in the life of any child or adult. For many children, going to Disney is like a dream come true. And as much as parents want their children to experience that dream, prices and costs do not help. That is why people tend to fall for scam artists offering great and unbelievable prices for Disney packages.

Not long ago, a woman was arrested for selling fake Disney vacation packages. She operated through Craiglist website through a fake name. She collected over seven thousand dollars from her victims and failed to provide the vacation package she advertised on the website.

Another company you should be aware of is Holiday Management Group. They contact their victims through unsolicited faxes offering great deals for Disney vacation packages. According to these faxes, if you purchase their package you will be saving up to five hundred dollars. The only thing they ask in exchange for that great deal is that you take a real estate tour and listen to a 2 hours sales speech.

The vacation package this company offers is called a Touch of Magic. These passes do not exist. This company is not associated in any way with Disney. Skybus, is an online company that offers many products. Among them, they offer Disney Vacation packages, which are really inexpensive. When you select on the website the option to purchase this package, it will redirect you to a page with a phone number for you to call.

Once you call this number, an agent will "assist you", and try to get as much information about you as possible, ranging from your marital status to your monthly income. Of course that information is not relevant to the purchase of a Disney vacation package.

But it is relevant for this company, since what they are really trying to do here is to sell you a time share package, and they will do whatever is necessary to get you to go to their presentation. Scam artists are very clever and they know exactly what to do to get your money.

So the brightest thing for you to do is research. Make sure you are working with legitimate companies or agencies. Disney vacation packages can save you lots of money, but be realistic, if the package you are looking to buy seems suspiciously cheap, do a little digging.

Sometimes what seems to be cheap ends up being more expensive than regular price packages. This does not mean that you should avoid all Disney vacation packages; it only means that you should make sure you are working with legitimate agencies.

Avoid Disney World Crowds - Dad's Top 5 Tips

Walt Disneyland

Avoiding Walt Disney World crowds is hard work. If you do a little homework, it gets easier. Here are Dad's top 5 Disney World tips to avoid Disney crowds.

Dad's Number One Tip -

Get there early - Come on sleepyheads roll out of bed. Mickey rewards early birds with short lines and uncrowded streets. The first hour of any day is the least busy in all of the Disney parks.

During the morning guests continue to arrive and crowds continue to build until late in the afternoon or early evening. Crowds will start to thin out a little as the evening progresses. For example, the line at Space Mountain first thing in the morning will be 10 minutes or less. By noon, on most days, that line will reach more than one hour.

Somebody used to tell me "The Early Bird gets the Worm". I don't know about worms, but the early bird at Disney World almost has the parks to themselves.

Number Two -

Extra Magic Hours - If you are staying at a Disney Resort, take advantage of Disney's Extra Magic Hours. This is the program that allows Disney Resort guests access to the parks one hour before the published opening time or up to three hours after the park officially closes. This can really help avoid long lines at popular attractions.

Every day one of the parks, including the water parks, participates in Extra Magic Hours. Disney allows guest in early or let's them stay late and ride the most popular rides in the park.

Number Three -

Know when to use Fastpass. A few years ago Disney started a program to lessen the length of time guest wait in line. It is called Fastpass. This program allows a ticket holder to bypass long lines of people via an alternative entrance.

There are times when Fastpass doesn't save you time or the return time will conflict with other plans you might have. If the "Standby" line at an Fastpass attraction (they all have a clock showing Standby line times) has a wait time of under 30 minutes, getting a ticket probably won't save you any time. Go ahead and ride, or grab a ticket, ride the ride, and come back and ride it again later.

Fastpass is available for all park guests and, here's the best part...

It's free.

Number Four -

Choose a slower time of the year to visit - There are several months when Walt Disney World crowds are smaller. Typically these months are when there are no school vacations. For example, mid-January to the end of February, and again in late August until Thanksgiving. During these times crowds are smaller the pace in the parks is slower and the restaurants are more available.

An added benefit to visiting during this time of year is that Disney usually offers special, lower, prices.

Number Five -

Have a plan -  You can save a lot of time, and avoid Disney crowds, if you know where you are going and have a plan to get around the parks. In other words, do your homework. (If you're reading this that's probably what your doing.)

Decide early where you are going to eat and plan your days around your meals. You can make Advanced Dining Reservations 90 days prior to arrival for most Disney World restaurants.

Your family can have a lot of fun planning a Disney World vacation together.

Counter Service at Walt Disney World is Faster, Cheaper and Just Good Food For the Family

There are some really great "counter services" restaurants at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. This is a first-person presentation on three of them: Flame Tree Barbecue, The Earl of Sandwich and Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. Also included here is information on researching the best restaurants at the "World".

FLAME TREE BARBECUE
Everyone has their own favorite Barbecue place, so trying one in a theme park can challenge your taste buds. And even though Flame Tree is in a Disney park, I was not quite sure until we visited The Flame Tree Barbecue in Animal Kingdom. My wife and I felt they did compare very well to our local BBQ pits. Smoked Barbecue Ribs, pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, baked beans and cole slow, it was a pleasure to stop twice during our last trip.

At the Flame Tree BBQ the hot meals are $9-11 each but there are also salads and a fruit plate for a little less. But don't forget to share an order of fries or onion rings. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and various breeds of birds (like Egrets) to accompany your meal. The scenery is really nice and quiet, and be sure to look around at the pavilion carvings and period decorations. The way it's laid out, you are out of the way of the busy main walkways so there is some privacy. You will enjoy the meal.

THE EARL OF SANDWICH
The Earl of Sandwich in Downtown Disney is another great stop, and it reminds me of deli-style stores in big cities, but without the bulk meat purchases. There are soups and salads, a wide variety of delicious carefully-designed hot and cold sandwiches, and some pre-wrapped sides and desserts. All of it is very good and will draw you back many times for a quick, but well-prepared meal.

The Earl's sandwiches have names and cost about $6 each. These include the The Full Montagu (Roasted Beef, Turkey, Swiss & Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Roma Tomato & Earl's Mustard); the Original 1762 (Freshly Roasted Beef, Cheddar Cheese & Creamy Horseradish Sauce); Hawaiian BBQ (Grilled Chicken, Roasted Ham, Hawaiian BBQ Sauce, Aged Swiss Cheese & Fresh Pineapple); the Earl's Club (Roasted Turkey, Smoked Bacon, Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Roma Tomato & Sandwich Sauce) and Cannonballs (Meatballs, Marinara, Mozzarella & Parmesan Cheese). They also have salads.

The Earl of Sandwich originated at WDW and was founded by Robert Earl of Planet Hollywood fame and the actual 11th of Earl of Sandwich Lord John Montagu. They are trying to build a nationwide chain, with about a dozen right stores now. This place can have a long time at times, and it's quite popular with visitors and locals alike. I checked the listing in TripAdvisor and it's 9th out of 1,224 eating spots in the Orlando area. For Disney fans alone, AllEars.Net is there to hear what your fellow visitors think.

PLAN YOUR MEALS FIRST
I also want to make a recommendation to help plan your next trip to Walt Disney World. It's good to start planning your Disney World vacations with the restaurants you want to visit, and then go back to prepare the rest of your schedule. So I always begin with The Disney Food Blog and their "Best Restaurant" page. Take some time to read reviews there and on other Disney fan sites. You won't be disappointed that you planned where you would like to eat first.

PECOS BILLS TALL TALE INN AND CAFE
Finally we arrive at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom and Pecos Bills Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, located in Frontierland. They have hamburgers, but it is the Dagwood-style burgers you can create on your own! You order your food at an computer Kiosk, which I thought was a little strange, but then I noticed the fixings bar, and any apprehension I had went away. And this is a big place, tables inside and outside that means room for hundreds.

When you are really hungry, go to Pecos Bills. Combo meals like the Bacon Double Cheeseburger and quarter pounders can double in size with a visit to fixings bar. There are also BBQ Pork sandwiches, chicken wraps, salads and vegetarian burger. In 2009 they added a fried chicken and gravy dinner with corn. And in 2010 they added an Angus Burger. When you add the sides (like chili cheese fries!) plus desserts, you have a meal equal to the five recommended food groups.

The character Pecos Bill is real (or maybe real folklore of the old west), but Disney adopted him to their own devices through film, cartoons and a theme park restaurant. You might remember Melody Time, the Disney animated feature from 1948. The finale of Melody Time was a cartoon about Pecos Bill and his horse, Widowmaker. Pecos Bill in the cartoon was not too politically correct since he smoked, so it's not widely distributed for today's audiences. But then came the 1995 Disney movie starring Patrick Swayze as Pecos Bill.

These counter-service options are much faster than sit-down dining (even with the waiting-to-order and pick-up lines) but that means you get back to your real purpose for being at a Walt Disney theme park. Plus counter-service meals are clearly less expensive for everyone particularly families. Have a magical day.

Disneyland, CA Versus Walt Disney World in Florida

Disneyland

Many people wonder which theme park area is better, Disneyland in California or Walt Disney World in Florida. Having been to both parks recently, I have come to the conclusion that the answer is not an easy one. Both areas are so unique that at times it feels like one is trying to compare apples to oranges.

Here are some things that both areas seem to have in common:

• Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are full of that "Disney Magic". The overall feeling as my family walked through the gates of each one of the theme parks was that of excitement and awe. We quickly left our everyday cares behind and let the Disney enchantment just sweep us away.

• All of the theme parks on each coast are very clean. Disney prides itself in creating a near spotless environment.

• Overall, the Cast Members (employees) are very friendly.

• Both areas have lots of characters around the theme parks who are ready to sign autographs and pose for pictures. The lines can be very long at either area depending on the time of year.

• Both areas have some attractions in common such as: Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Enchanted Tiki Room, Peter Pan's Flight, Tower of Terror, Soarin', Toy Story Mania, Haunted Mansion, Innoventions, Buzz Light Year Auto Blasters, Autopia (although not the same name), Space Mountain, Tom Sawyer's Island, Riverboats, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Teacups, a Carousel, a Tree House, Disney Animations, Turtle Talk with Crush, as well as a few others.

Here are some of the differences between Disneyland and Walt Disney World:

• The Size - Disneyland Resort in California is much smaller and completely land locked, with the city of Anaheim totally surrounding it. Walt Disney World in Florida is huge, and a large part of the total acreage that Disney World owns is still undeveloped.

• The number of theme parks: Disneyland Resort in California consists of 2 theme parks and the Downtown Disney area. Walt Disney World in Florida consists of 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, a Downtown Disney area and much more.

• The Distance between the theme parks: The two theme parks in the Disneyland Resort are right across a plaza from each other. You can easily walk from one park to the other, and also to Downtown Disney, in minutes. Walt Disney World's theme parks and other offerings are very spread out. You can only get to them by car or other transportation. Walt Disney World does have an excellent, free bus, monorail or boat transportation system between the theme parks, hotels, water parks, Downtown Disney and their other offerings.

• The Climate: Walt Disney World is generally a little warmer year-round than Disneyland in California. Both areas can get very hot during the summer months, but Disneyland's heat might be easier to take due to the lower humidity. Walt Disney World generally gets more rain in the summer, while Disneyland generally gets more rain in the winter.

• Lodging: Disneyland has only three resort hotels on its property while Walt Disney World has around 18 resort hotels plus a campground on its property.

I've only mentioned a few of the common things and just some of the differences between the Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World. There may be many more things in each of the categories above that one might add.

Here are some of my favorite things about each area:

Disneyland:

Disneyland is the original Disney theme park. This theme park was Walt Disney's brainchild and prototype for all of the Disney theme parks that have followed.

• The theme parks in the Disneyland Resort are easier to get around and generally require less walking to get to the different attractions than in the theme parks at Walt Disney World. The Disneyland theme parks are also much easier to "park hop" to as they are right next door to each other.

Disneyland has the show, "Billy Hill and the Hillbillies". This is an incredibly funny show that takes place at the Golden Horseshoe Saloon many times a day on three to four days a week.

Disneyland has New Orleans Square as one of its lands. The Blue Bayou Restaurant is located here and they serve their famous "Monte Cristo" sandwich. They're located in the same building as the attraction, Pirates of the Caribbean and its' fun to watch the boats go by while you're dining or to view the restaurant from the boat if you're on the attraction.

Walt Disney World:

• Cinderella's Table - This is a wonderful restaurant that is actually located inside of Cinderella's Castle at Magic Kingdom. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and diners get to meet 5 princesses. Cinderella greets everyone after they come into the castle. Once you are seated at your table upstairs, you have the opportunity to meet 4 other princesses. When we were there, the princesses were Belle, Ariel, Sleeping Beauty and Jasmine. If you're not into the characters, it is still a special treat to be inside of the castle, and the meals are generally very good.

• The Shows: If you like shows, Walt Disney World has a lot of them. They have "Finding Nemo, the Musical" and "Festival of the Lion King" at Disney's Animal Kingdom. At Hollywood Studios, they have "Beauty and the Beast" and "Voyage of the Little Mermaid" as well as two amazing stunt shows.

• The Water Parks: There are two incredible water parks on the property. If you're fortunate enough to be at Walt Disney World for more than a few days, these water parks provide a wonderful, relaxing break from "pounding the pavement" at the theme parks.

• Dine with an Imagineer - this is an amazing opportunity to eat either lunch or dinner with one of Disney's "behind the scenes" creators and artists. The Imagineer shares lots of fascinating stories, plans and experiences over the course of about 2 to 3 hours. You have a great opportunity to ask all of those questions about Disney that you've always wanted to know.

These are just a few of the things that I love about Disneyland and Walt Disney World. If I had to choose one area over the other, I would probably have to choose Disneyland as my favorite. This is because it was the first Disney Park that I went to as a child and also the first one that my children went to. So, Disneyland has a lot of sentimental value to our family.

If you're lucky enough to experience both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, the secret might be to just appreciate each area for both their similarities and their uniqueness. Whether you're in the Disney theme parks in California or the ones in Florida, you're sure to experience that wonderful Disney magic!

Secrets To Save Money At Disneyland

Disneyland

When choosing a Disneyland vacation then you need to carefully consider all the costs involved. Flights are normally very expensive so if possible try to drive to Disneyland yourself or if not talk to your travel agent to get the cheapest flight possible.

Admission tickets to the Disneyland park itself can also be very expensive, try to avoid paying at the gate as this is where the tickets will be the most expensive, instead try to get a package which includes both your flights and Disneyland tickets all in one.

The price of food is another major issue, buying food in the park itself can be very costly, so either take food with you or have a big meal before you go into the park itself.

Be careful with the amount of souvenirs you purchase, the price of these can quickly cut into your budget, so set yourself a limit and stick to it.

There are many companies who offer specialist holidays to Disneyland, contact as many of these companies as possible to get yourself the best deal. Remember these companies will often be competing against each other so do not be afraid to negotiate to get the best price possible.

Hotels near the Disneyland resort will vary in terms of quality from 1 star to 5 star rating. Ask yourself whether you really need a 4 or 5 star hotel?. A 2 star hotel will give you a comfortable room for your family and would save you significant amounts of money. Do some research online to read reviews of hotels and select the one that is best for you.

If you visit Disneyland during the off peak season then this will save you huge amounts of money, try to avoid Christmas as this is when hotels and park admission tickets are at their most expensive.
