If I ask you about Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, I am sure you know them very well. Yes, they are Disney characters. But who are Walt Disney actually? How could he create a lot of characters that are very famous among children and even adult? This article is going to tell you some little pieces of his life.
His full name is Walter Elias Disney, born in Chicago Illinois in December 5, 1901. Disney is indeed a legend in 20th century entertainment. His wonderful imagination and creativity in creating characters has touching emotion and heart of many people. Since he was a kid, he was very interested to arts and drawing.
Disney was student of McKinley High School, Chicago. He loved drawing and learning photography, therefore he also learned drawing in Academy of Fine Arts. Compared with other assignments, he was very good in drawing animal and nature. He even had made miniature of train with its railways. He was a fan of Charlie Chaplin. Therefore, he also learned acting when his family moved to Kansas.
Three years after he married Lillian Bounds in 1925, he created the character of Mickey Mouse. From this starting point, he was continuously creating other characters and making innovation in entertainment world. There were a large number of characters of animation movies had been created by Disney, and those characters and movies were accepted by American and almost the entire people in the world.
In 1955, he transformed his animation characters into an amusement park called Disneyland. It cost 17 million dollars and it reached its success to be the biggest amusement park in the world.
As a Pioneer and innovator in entertainment, especially in animation, Disney has been received more than 950 awards, including 48 from Academy Awards and 7 from Emmy Awards. Not to mention some titles given by some universities such as Harvard University, Yale University, California University, and also UCLA. With his contribution he had given to the world, definitely he deserved to achieve it.
